Hi Dennis,
the SpotLog is a potential tool for a perfect QSO management.
What do you think to add in the filter criterion mask the date to establish the range of the filter's temporal validity?
Once the period is over, you can easily delete the data no longer needed from the list.
It's possible??

Hi Mario:

Sorry, I don't understand. Do you mean to have a date range or cutoff date on Alerts? Or something to tie spots to alerts, then delete all spots related to a given alert?

I haven't forgotten your suggestion to put an alert column in the spot log. Just trying to get the new RS-232 interface finished up.

Tnx & 73,

Dennis WN4AZY

Excuse me Dennis,
I will try to explain point to point with my poor english:
1-I know, today, that from 01 to 15 August 2018 will be a DXCALL on air (I need it)
2.I use the information to insert the filter in the spotlog
3. The filter mask proposes me some field names but i can only insert the CALL
4. The date field does not exist with the various possibilities to put a range or a specific date etc. The list lacks the given option as it exists in other cases.
5. Once all the data have been inserted (date and comment included after the mods), the filter will only work by referring to that date, displaying in red color in the spot window and also displaying any comment inserted into the alert flash little window.
6.When the filter date has passed, it will no longer need to be in the list and can be automatically deleted.

So if the local PC date matches a filter date it must display in red in the spotlog, while if the date has expired the same filter must be deleted.

I hope I've been exhaustive.
You do not have to apologize to me absolutely because I can give one or more ideas, then you have to decide if the thing is feasible and if it is of use to the whole community.
The Logic is an exceptional program but I think it is better to enhance those features that other programs do not have, and that is why I often "bother you".
Thank you for what you can do and I certainly do not rush you.

Hi Dennis,
thanks for the 037 release where you entered the change to the spotlog. Work perfectly but does not display the call in red for immediate detection.
Always consistent with your priorities have you taken into consideration the fact of being able to put a beginning and end validity of the filter and then delete it automatically when it expires?
I always thank you for your exquisite collaboration.
My best regards

Hi Mauro:

I didn't make it red because we are already using green to indicate that the the station was worked recently.

We could use red for one and green for the other, but what if both conditions are in effect?

I think we could UNDERLINE the call.

What do you think?

Thanks for the excellent idea, BTW. A great enhancement to LOGic.

Tnx & 73,

Hi Dennis,
I appreciated your change to the spotlog and I thank you again.
In fact, highlighting the CALL inserted in the spotlog filter makes sense because it is a top priority compared to the normal function.
The choice of red color because it is more evident at the first visual impact, as it is done for the various awards (DXCC, CQ, ITUZ, etc), but nothing forbids to do underlined if you think it appropriate.
The fact of the green color has no relevance because if the CALL has been connected both outside the filter and through a filter we are not interested anymore because it has already been connected.
The resource that I consider instead is even more important to have in the filter is to be able to insert a start and end date of the control.
The filter can be cleaned manually by the operator or automatically after expiry of the validity.
This is my opinion and/or desire because I already know, in advance, that I would use this option achieving excellent results for my DX and AWARDS activities.
Thanks also for the patience you have in listening and evaluating my requests.
Excuse me always for my english not always understandable.

Do you mean the ability to show only spots posted between two dates?

Or do you mean a begin and end date for the Alert expression? That is possible now, though not so user-friendly.

Here is the expression:

CALL="VP6D " AND BETWEEN(TIMESTAMP, {^2018-8-1 00:00:00}, {^2018-8-31 23:59:59})

TIMESTAMP does not show up in the funnel button. I will look at that.

Your English is WAY better than my Italian. Unless it is food, I haven't a clue

Hi Dennis,
exactly the second hypothesis is correct.
In fact I had tried to create the correct expression but it was missing how to insert the date range.
Thanks for the transcription of the correct expression to use that I have already entered as you can see from the screenshot.
It is not difficult to eat Italian, you immediately become an expert ... hihi
If you pass around here let me know first because I will have pleasure to have you as a welcome guest along with Fe in front of a laid table.
Obviously I organized myself with an interpreter for dialogue ah ah ah ah

Ok, glad it works.

I actually made a mistake on my prior post. Timestamp is a DateTime field, so it is necessary to include the time, otherwise it will fail on 2018-8-31. I corrected my post. Please adjust accordingly.

I checked to see why it doesn't show up on the filter form -- the filter form doesn't handle datetime. This could be a useful feature so I will try to figure out a way to make it easier.

Thanks for the dinner invite. I might drop by unnounced sometime hihi. No, I would let you know of course. No plans now but you never know. And by the same token, if you are ever in the US, let me know.

Tnx & 73,

Dennis WN4AZY
