The alert feature works very well; however, it would be nice to limit the number of alerts for the same station. Having a selectable interval between alerts would be a nest. Additionally, a simpler message would be a nice touch. Like Callsign and freq would be adequate.

Thanks

Should I read anything into the lack of a response to my first question on this subject? I find having the selected spots sent to my cell phone via text messages very useful; however the volume of them can become annoying. The ability to have some control of the interval would be most useful. Is there a way to do this I have over looked?

Thanks

Ken

Hi--

Thanks for bumping this.

There is currently no way of limiting the interval between alerts. That would be easy to add tho. I'll put it in the list.

I'll try to shorten the message too.

Tnx & 73,

Hi Dennis,

Would it be possible to expand this request to include spots as well as alerts? It is annoying when an expedition is happening to have the same spot (call, frequency, and mode) spotted on the screen every few minutes.

If we can only have one and not both then the limiting of duplicate (call, frequency, and mode) alerts are more important to me as well.

Thank you for considering this.

I agree there is a need for this. However, it is not as simple as alerts. For alerts, there is one record defining each alert. I can simply add a field noting the last time an alert was sent, and use that to determine if I need to send it again or not.

For spots, there is no such definition.

There is a mechanism that prevents the SAME SPOT by the SAME STATION from being posted twice in a five-minute window. That was done primarily to keep duplicates from showing up0 when monitoring a packet cluster in unconnected mode. I think the same algorithms could be used. I'll look into it.

Thanks for the suggestion!
