We will provide an update as soon as possible. However, we are still waiting on the ADIF number and a prefix block. Check back here and we will post an update when the needed info is available.

For now, just work them and submit to LoTW -- no need to do anything. See below.

SB DX ARL ARLD028
ARLD028 The Republic of South Sudan Is Now a DXCC Entity

At 10:18 AM (EDT) on Thursday, July 14, the UN General Assembly met
to vote on whether or not to admit the Republic of South Sudan as
its 193rd member state. The Republic of South Sudan was unanimously
admitted and is now a member of the United Nations; a two-thirds
majority is needed to become a member of the UN.

Immediately following the General Assembly meeting, the flag of the
Republic of South Sudan flew for the first time in front of the UN,
ceremoniously marking its membership in the UN.

Now that the Republic of South Sudan is a member of the United
Nations, the new country is now a DXCC entity by way of Section II,
1(a) of the DXCC rules. The DXCC Desk will begin immediately
accepting QSOs for this new entity, with a start date of July 14,
2011.

According to DXCC Manager Bill Moore, NC1L, the Honor Roll numbers
move from 340 to 341 for the Top of the Honor Roll, and for Honor
Roll it becomes 332. "The deadline for the Honor Roll and annual
listings is December 31, so you must submit the new entity to DXCC
by then in order to retain your Honor Roll status," Moore explained.

"For Logbook of The World (LoTW), you may submit all your QSOs with
the Republic of South Sudan stations anytime. There is no need to
hold them out of your log or do anything differently from what you
already have been doing. You do not need to assign country names or
identifiers. After we issue certificates to the Republic of South
Sudan license holders, LoTW will make matches and assign the correct
entities automatically."
(Emphasis added)

As of July 14, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has
not announced a prefix block for the Republic of South Sudan.

I went ahead and made a tables update that uses ST0 for the new Southern Sudan, and renames the old deleted Southern Sudan to ST0-D.

Here is how to update LOGic 8 to use the new Z8 prefix for the new Southern Sudan.

Locate the new Southern Sudan record in tools/setup/list of valid values. Here is one way to do it: Click Filter (the funnel button). Next to MISC, enter 521 (this is the ARRL identifier for Southern Sudan). Click OK. Make sure that the Field Name is DXCC.

Note the old value. It should be ST0 if you followed the last post. Whatever you used, so long as it is unique, is fine.

Enter Z8 for the new value.

Close and reopen LOGic.

Now let's update the log to use the new value go to tools/advanced/database commands. This assumes that the old prefix noted eariler is ST0. If something else, substitutle accordingly. Type

USE LOG
REPLACE DXCC WITH "Z8 " FOR DXCC="ST0 "

(Press {Enter} at the end of each line. If a command fails for some reason, an error message is displayed. If no error message is displayed, your commands succeeded).

One more step. We need to update the prefix table. Click the Get button (binoculars). Enter ST0 or your prefix for DXCC. Change DXCC to Z8. Add Z8 to the PREFIXES list. Our list had ST0,6T0,6U0 I changed it to Z8,ST0 (that is ST-ZERO, not ST-Oh). I figure that there are probably stations still using their interim ST0 calls that you might work.

Tnx & 73,
