Hello Dennis,

Wondering if you would consider the following two added features to LOGic regarding rotators:

1. In the INFO window, after entering a prefix to determine the short and long path bearings, could you add buttons to automatically turn the rotor?

and/or

2. In the Rotor Control window, how about being able to enter a prefix and having the rotor turn to that bearing?

Thanks,

Hi Allen,

Not sure this is of any help but in LOGic's DX Calculator window if you type any prefix in the call field it will give the bearing, then just hit the short or long path button to activate the rotor. Also, entering a prefix in the DX Calculator's call field automatically feeds the INFO form, i.e., they are sync'd.

The Rotor window works with grid square or bearing and if either are entered hitting return activates the rotor.

You're right, It would be nice if it also took prefix's (like the DX Calculator) !

PS: That Rotor window needs some love, some time ago there was talk of making the compass rose rotate or somehow indicating the antenna bearing on the rose, a line or something.

Allen, I believe logic already does what you want by entering a call into the main log form if you have a rotor configured. The info comes up in the info window, and if you hit the tab key, should trigger the rotor. Note: the rotor has to be configured in 2 separate spots; tools/setup/misc. ham setup, and from the main log screen - the log tab/setup/rig-rotor-terminal tab. There is more in the help section.

That does not seem to work on my setup, probably something not configured. But I am currently away from my shack (operating remotely via Chrome Remote Desktop) so hard to see exactly what's happening. I'll check it next time I have a chance. Thanks,

Hi Doug,

Hitting the [TAB] does not activate the rotator here. As stated before, perhaps something is not quite set up, but need to sit in front of the station to make sure.

Yeah, I asked Dennis to see if he could make the display rotate, but he though the current programming environment didn't support such animations. Too bad. I hope he can find a way to do it.

Thanks,

I haven't tried this yet, but from what I read here, I have to log a contact in order to turn the rotor, is that right? Would I set 'Terminal' to 'Terminal 1' or something else?

Thanks,

OK, I tried what K8ZM and W5GA suggested and those functions don't work here. Dennis, can you verify any of this and let me know what LOGic does or does not do? What am I missing???

Hi Allen,

I attached a pic of the Dx Calculator and Rotor Control windows just to be sure.

I haven't tried hitting TAB from the call field in the logform but I don't remember it ever launching the rotor, probably since I already have the rotor pointed to whomever I'm working before hitting TAB to log the QSO but I'll give it a try tomorrow.

FWIW.......I'll mention the obvious and repeat Doug's post, i.e., making sure the rotor is configured in Tools/Setup/Misc Ham Setup, and in the Logform, Log/Setup/Rig,Rotor,and Terminal.

Hi Brad,

Well, I never used the DX Calculator before. Looks like it has the functionality I wanted, but I don't have any more real estate on my screen! Still would be nice to add the same functionality to the Info window so I don't have to add this window to my display (hint, hint Dennis!).

Thanks!

Ah yes, no more screen real estate !! Ha, I get it.

Not the answer you're looking for but in the short term try the logform, enter a callsign or prefix in the Call field then hit the "S" or "L" radio buttons. FWIW I attached another pic (sorry for the elementary explanations).
To be honest I never really used that feature but now that I tried it I'll be doing it much more often !!

Good Luck, and hope maybe Dennis can add an S and L radio button to the Info window.
