Active R/C computerized frequency management system
Personal Database Applications has developed a new product for frequency management and monitoring for Radio-Controlled modeling clubs and R/C events.
We have developed what essentially is a computerized version of a traditional frequency control board that allows channel reservation, with the additional features of color-coded squares and a signal-strength indicator that show radio activity for each channel. This presentation as a typical frequency board permits anyone to understand the system with no training. Anyone can glance at the screen and easily determine the reservation status, as well as the actual radio signal status, for all channels. It may be used instead of a conventional frequency control board, or as a supplemental means of preventing accidents. All radio activity, as well as channel reservation by users, is logged. This is useful for unattended detection of interference over a long time period, or as evidence against modelers who turn their transmitter on without first reserving the frequency.
The color of each square indicates the radio signal status of each channel. Red means a radio signal is being received. Yellow means that the channel was in use recently. Green means that the channel is clear, and has been clear for some time. The bar across the top of each square is a signal strength indicator. The check mark indicates that the frequency is reserved. When reserving a frequency, you are prompted for your name. It serves the same purpose as clipping your identification to a normal frequency board.
Clicking a square displays status about that channel.
A log is kept of all activity.
The Air Traffic Control feature is great for managing large fly-ins.
Active R/C is in its final stages of development and is patent pending. It has been used at various model airplane fields and at Joe Nall and SEFF. It has been instrumental in averting numerous mishaps.
