Serial Port Problems
How do I install more serial ports?
Click here for more info on installing multiple serial
ports, IRQs, etc.
LOGic shows only a few ports in its dropdown COM port menus. I thought it
supported any COM port.
It does. LOGic displays only ports installed on your system and recognized by Windows.
See the following question.
LOGic does not show all of my serial ports in its dropdown COM port menu.
LOGic builds these menus by attempting to open COM 1 thru 64. If Windows
returns an error saying that the port does not exist, the com port is not displayed in the
menu.
This happens because Windows does not recognize the port. Serial ports are installed
and managed by Windows. LOGic and all other Windows programs then talk to the
serial port using this Windows interface. Since Windows does not recognize the serial
port, neither do any Windows applications.
Probably your port does not have Windows drivers installed. Go to the
Control
Panel, and select Add New Hardware. See also Resolving Serial Port Problems.
