It does. LOGic displays only ports installed on your system and recognized by Windows. See the following question.
LOGic 5 builds these menus by attempting to open COM 1 thru 64. If Windows returns an error saying that the port does not exist, the com port is not displayed in the menu.
This happens because Windows does not recognize the port. Serial ports are installed and managed by Windows. LOGic 5 and all other Windows programs then talk to te serial port using this Windows interface. SInce Windows does not recognize the serial port, neither do any Windows applications.
Probably your port does not have Windows drivers installed. Go to the Control Panel, and select Add New Hardware. See also Resolving Serial Port Problems.
This is a Windows General Device Failure error. Port hardware is bad or configured improperly, or Windows configuration is incorrect. The device manager may show no problems with the port.
If you have a port on your system that cannot be opened and yet is not in use by another program, you will get this error multiple times when going to tools/setup/misc ham setup. However, if you are persistant, it will let you in! It occurs once for each com port dropdown list field in this form.
See Resolving Serial Port Problems. Note that while this error is a nuisence and is indicitave of system problems, it does not affect the operation of LOGic at all. LOGic just pretends the port doesn't exist.
Resolution of this problem varies greatly depending on the cause. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Resolve any conflicts listed in the device manager.
Try uninstalling this port from the device manager, then let Add New Hardware in the control panel reinstall it.
Check your CMOS setup for this port.
Substitute hardware.
Contact the manufacturer of your serial port card or tech support for your computer's hardware.
