General info on radio interfacing problems

My radio control toolbar is gone.  The log screen still reads the rig.

The radio control toolbar is hidden.  Click on Windows on the menu bar, then click on your rig.

My radio is communicating with LOGic OK (the rig toolbar works), but the log form does not get updated.

Here are some things to check.

  1. Make sure that real-time mode is on.  If real-time mode is off, the log screen will not automatically log the time either.  Real-time mode is accessed in the Log menu.

  2. You must be adding a new QSO, and you must press {Tab} to exit the callsign field.  This triggers reading of the rig.

  3. LOGic supports multiple rigs.  It does this with its support for multiple log screens.  A log screen must be associated with a rig.  Check this association in the log/setup menu.

LOGic logs the frequency, but not the mode

When logging information from the radio, LOGic compares the mode you are currently operating with a list of modes that the rig supports. If the current mode is not found, it ignores the mode returned by the radio and logs the mode from the last QSO. This allows you to log modes such as PKT or TOR that do not appear on your rig's Mode switch. For example, suppose you are operating TOR. Your rig's VFO is set to LSB. LOGic will automatically log LSB. Manually change the mode to TOR. LOGic will continue to log TOR for subsequent contacts. Now, suppose that you start operating CW. LOGic will continue to log TOR for the mode. Manually change it to CW. Since CW is supported by your rig, it will now resume reading the mode from the radio on subsequent QSOs. The list of supported modes is hard-coded in the rig driver program, so normally you do not have to enter anything for Modes in the radio setup window. See LOGic's help for more info.
