Data Import/Export

A feature not often thought about when shopping for a logging program is the option to import or export data to/from it. The importance of this should not be overlooked.

When we first put LOGic 5 on the market in 1989, we believed that no one should buy a product that locked your data into a proprietary format. You will cherish your log data the rest of your life. As rapidly as computer technology changes, can you be sure that you will still be using the same logging program 20 years from now? Therefore, LOGic 5 has always exported data in several popular formats—xBase, several ASCII and spreadsheet formats, etc.

You may easily load data from other sources and extract data from it to be used in other programs. Custom import routines for about thirty other programs, including CT, N6TR, WF1B, RTTY, DX4Win, LogWindows, HamWindows, LogView, LogMaster, DXBase, Log-EQF, HyperLog and others are available. Additionally, PDA will import data from spreadsheets, xBase, ASCII text files, etc. at no charge.

LOGic 5 fully supports ADIF (Amateur Data Interchange Format). ADIF is a standard protocol for exchanging amateur radio among various programs that was pioneered by PDA. ADIF is supported by most ham radio programs currently in production, permitting you to easily move data between applications. LOGic 5's flexible ADIF support gives you full control over field names and which fields to import and export. This permits you to import or export user-defined fields, and import data that has fields that are not in the ADIF specifications.
