ADIF

Amateur Data Interchange Format

Amateur Data Interchange Format

A number of ham radio software publishers, in response to our customers' requests, have agreed on a standard format for transferring data between the various ham radio software packages that are available.  Briefly, here are the benefits:

Consumers:  If you purchase a software package that supports ADIF import and export, you are assured that you can easily use multiple programs and move data among them, and share log data with friends or QSL managers.  You never need to worry about obsolescence of your data.  If your publisher goes out of business or no longer supports new platforms, you can choose from a large selection of other programs that will load your logs without retyping everything.

Software Publishers: As a software publisher, you can spend less time writing import programs for everyone else's programs.  Increased sales become a reality for us all since consumers can easily purchase more than one program, using each where in situations where it performs best, and easily moving data among their programs.   Updates to your file structure is potentially easier to support, since your customers can use ADIF to import their data into your new program.

We also encourage software sponsors to consider ADIF for acceptance of contest logs.

This page is a resource for software developers and consumers.  For developers, specifications are available here, and a link is provided to promote your ADIF/compatible software.  For consumers, this is a great place to shop for software package(s) that you can buy with confidence, knowing that your data can be easily exported in a standard format, and be shared among most currently-published software packages.

The following publishers support ADIF.  If the publisher of your favorite program is not listed, please tell him about ADIF and refer him to this page.

If you are considering purchasing software, ask about ADIF compatibility.  A few publishers have refused to support ADIF, or import ADIF only. Ask yourself why they adopted this policy!
