Hi All,

It is my understanding from reading the help file that the Record Lock check box on the Spot Log window should keep the selected (highlighted in yellow) record from scrolling off the screen.

In my case when I highlight a spot and check the Record Lock box the Spot Log acts just like I had checked the Display Lock box. For me checking the Record Lock box freezes the entire Spot Log screen.

Do I have the correct understanding of how the Record Lock box should work?

Do any of you have different results than what I find when I check the Record Lock box?

I am running the .53 version of LOGic

Thanks and 73,

Bill

G'Day Bill,

My reading ...

If the RECORD LOCK is ticked, the current record will not scroll of the screen. That is, as new spots come in the display will scroll downwards until the "selected record" is at the bottom, at which point the display will stop scrolling automatically as spots arrive. New spots will arrive at the top, but off the display. If you want to see the new spots, you must "manually" scroll upwards.

I am using 9.0.53, and I confirm the "record lock" seems to be locking the entire spot list.

If I turn "RECORD LOCK" on, the display does not move as spots arrive - a record in the middle of the display is selected. If I turn RECORD LOG off, the display immediately changes to show all the spots that have arrived. No scrolling occurs automatically if RECORD LOCK is checked.

Hi Dennis,

Is the original posting in this thread something you can address? It looks like Peter found the same thing I did. The Record Lock box on the Spot Log Form is not working as the help file says it should.

Thanks,

Bill

Well, it looks to me like it IS working as designed. The problem is with the tooltip help.

Here is my test scenario:

  • Turn off any source of spots
  • Clear the spot log.
  • Create a test spot.
  • Select the test spot then turn on record lock.
  • Open DX Summit.
  • Scroll up. You see new spots.

The help says "If the selected record is near the top of the list, the grid will scroll down so that new spots may be seen". It will indeed do that in some cases. If the ordering is set to Call, new spots will appear.

However, if it is in order by time received, the new spots come in above the current one, and the current record pointer does not move no matter what.

It may have worked as documented at one time. As I recall I am merely updating the database and simply not moving the current record pointer in the grid to the latest record received. Whatever it is doing is FoxPro default behavior.

I will update the help at least.

Tnx & 73,
