Sorry, no idea on this one. What version of Windows? Going thru all these other posts I see one other report of this.

I would like to log into your machine and look around.

Ok, maybe try getting SP3. LOGic 9 has not been tested on SP2 that I know of.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389

Apparently SP3 is not available for Win XP 64-bit, but that is very uncommon.

I would also like to see if there is anything screwey in the device manager.

I am having the same problem with rig setup. Logic 9 locks up and I have to force shutdown.

I am using Win7 32 bit, all latest windows updates.

Thanks,
Gary

Dennis...got your phone call...

Actually, I DO have SP3...sorry.

And, I have managed to successfully get to the setup menu....I just tried it several times. I now have the SW talking to the rig.

However, there is definately something weird as I cannot reliably get to the setup window...

I just keep trying the following painful exercise:

1) Try to access Tools>Setup>Misc...
2) If successful, then make the changes/mods and exit/save.
3) If not successful, use Task Manager to abort Logic and Logicserver.
4) Restart Logic - clean DB and restart (rebuilds tables).
5) Go To 1

Eventually the above works.

Also...I notice that when it hangs after step 1, if I leave the logic window and come back I get a "Switch To"/"Retry"/...dialog box. Retry doesn't work...."Switch To" takes me to the Windows "Start" menu...Also, most of the individual Logic windows except for the log entry windows disappears.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any other info.

Dennis et al...

I have the same program xp sp3 it runs, then freezes, sometimes with the logic has to shut down message.
It seemed to affect my copy of logic 8 as well, it started acting up on the same machine, until I uninstalled logic 9
suggestions???

Ok, that may be significant. Try manually closing the world map, the band map, and make sure there is no port status window open complaining about a non-existant COM port or something. Then try tools/setup/misc....

W1GUD: Not sure what is going on there. If LOGic 9 isn't running, it should't affect LOGic 8. Let me scratch my head some more and wait and see what else turns up. Can I call this evening?

Ok, found the fix for this. Turns out it was just really really slow for people with a lot of com ports. If you waited a long time it would come around. It was testing every COM port once for each comport dropdown on the misc ham setup form.

I fixed it so that it now scans all ports once and uses the same info for every com port prompt.

I have no way to test it -- I have just a few COM ports and it is practically instantaneous either way.

I see no reason why this update wouldn't help, but would appreciate it if someone would verify and let me know.

Ok, someone reported that it takes 30 seconds now as opposed to minutes before, so it definitely helped.
