Hi Dennis,

I worked 9Q6AL from the Democratic Republic Of Congo. Logic listed this as TN & the drop down on the log form calls this Congo. I scrolled through the drop down menu & 9Q shows as Zaire which was the earlier name for the current dem. rep of the Congo (from 1971-1997).

In the Prefix table 9Q shows correctly in the prefixes for the Dem rep of congo but that is not what is automatically logged or displayed in the DXCC window on the main log screen. TN which was claimed is the DXCC prefix for the Republic of the Congo, a separate entity.

How do I rectify this so it stays permanently changed and logs future 9Q calls correctly? And I need to delete Zaire as it's not around any more.

Ok, it's just a cosmetic error.

Zaire isn't really deleted. There was apparently just a name change, no countries have been deleted or anything.

Think of DXCC countries in terms of the numbers that ARRL assigns. Here is the official DXCC list, http://www.arrl.org/files/file/dxcclist.txt
and here are the relevant records:

9Q-9T* Dem. Rep. of Congo AF 52 36 414
TN(31) Congo (Republic of the) AF 52 36 412

The last number is the DXCC identifier.

In LOGic, go to tools/setup/list of valid values.

Click the DXCC list, click the binoculars and enter 9Q for VALUE. Change the description from Zaire to DEM. REP. OF CONGO. TN just has CONGO, so I changed that to CONGO (REPUBLIC OF THE) to be consistent with ARRL.

The prefix list is fine, but you can can change CONGO to CONGO (REPUBLIC OF THE) just to be absolutely the best.

I'll change our master copy and it will find its way into a tables update.

Tnx & 73,

9Q0HQ is on the air now from Dem. Rep. of Congo. I did the following:

In LOGic, tools/setup/list of valid values.

Clicked the DXCC list
Clicked the binoculars and entered 9Q for VALUE
Changed the description from Zaire to DEM. REP. OF CONGO

When I logged 9Q0HQ, it comes up as Zaire when I log the DXCC in my log window (when I place my cursor over the 9Q entry, a small window shows up as "Zaire")

I cannot find Zaire in List of valid value or Prefix Table.

Where else should I be looking?

UPDATE: A quick cleaning of the indexes and a reboot of LOGic 9 and it's all good now BigGrin

G'Day Gary,

The DXCC list is only used for "awards processing". Run Update Awards, and run an award report to see your change to the list.

When you log a call, a lookup is performed on the Prefix table only.

Open the Prefix table, duplicate the record for 9Q, mark the record as a USER RECORD, and update the description as you want.

LOGic 9 should now use your user record.

Now add a topic to the Forum in the Prefix Table updates section, asking for a change to the description for 9Q.

When the system update is made and you apply the next update to LOGic, you can remove your USER record.
